Gusta Ophelia Rockwell

June 30, 1927 — April 30, 2014

DUNCAN — Gusta Ophelia Rockwell, 86, longtime Duncan resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in Duncan.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She was born June 30, 1927, in Waurika, to Roy Edgar Gravley and Allie Mae Quick Gravley. She was a 1946 graduate of Ringling High School. On Oct. 23, 1948, she and Robert O. “Bob” Rockwell married in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death May 9, 1988.

In the early 1940s, she was a nurse for Dr. Stickney and Dr. Cheatwood at Comanche Hospital. She later also worked at several hospitals in Duncan and at Duncan school cafeterias.

She enjoyed camping vacations and fishing with family and friends. She and Bob enjoyed gardening, square dancing and bowling together. For many years they were involved in Duncan Youth Council softball and were passionate about watching their children and grandchildren play ballgames.

Her granddaughter Falon Howell was the light of her life and they had a very special bond. She was an avid OKC Thunder, OU and OSU fan.

She leaves behind seven children: Linda H. Rockwell and Carl Wells of Oklahoma City, Sharla R. and Lonnie Hartman of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, Patricia J. Tolleson of Tucson, Ariz., Robert O. “Bobby” Rockwell II of Ardmore, Tami S. Rockwell of Phoenix, Ariz., Keri M. and Bruce Divis of Foss Lake, and Kristi R. and Clay Howell of Duncan; grandchildren: Lonna J. Presgrove, Brandi L. Elizalde, Aaron G. Rockwell, Eric D. Hartman, Aimee D. Tolleson, Robert O. “Bo” Rockwell III, Joshua R. Bubala, Brian M. Rockwell, Creed L. Divis, Ashley R. Rockwell, Tyler L. Tolleson, Bailey A. Divis, Dylan W. Tolleson and Falon R. Howell; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Gravley of Cypress, Calif.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and her faithful Pomeranian companion, Missy.

She was also preceded by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Roy E. Gravley Jr. and Betty; step-mother, Ann Gravley; sisters: Margaret Rios and Nancy Wynn.

Pallbearers will be Clay Howell, Lonnie Hartman, Bruce Divis, Carl Wells, Eric Hartman, Bo Rockwell, Aaron Rockron and Josh Bubala.
