DUNCAN — Mary E. Clark Bennett, 95, lifelong resident of Duncan, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, in Duncan.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial is under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary was born March 16, 1918, in Duncan, to Marvin E. and Ester Pritchard Clark. She graduated from Duncan High School, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the DAR. She married James F. “Sailor” Bennett on May 10, 1941, in Norman. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1993.

Mary went to work in 1936, for L.B. Simmons at Oklahoma National Bank as a bookkeeper and continued working in that capacity until joining her husband in his law firm.

Mary is survived by two children: Ann K. Bennett and husband Phillip Mummert of Knoxville, Tenn., and James C. Bennett of Duncan; two grandchildren: Laura A. Bennett and Kathryn Thomas and husband Travis; and a great-grandchild, Parker Thomas.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, James Forbes Bennett; a brother and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First Presbyterian Church, 704 W. Ash, Duncan, OK 73533.
