Funeral service for Noveline Norton were Thursday, April 4, at Crossway Baptist Church in Sulpher, officiated by the Rev. Bill Leveridge. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery under direction of DeArman’s Clagg Funeral Home.
Noveline was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Ardmore, to Rudolph Uhles and Alice Jewel McCollum Uhles. She passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at age 84.
She grew up in the Ardmore, Davis, Sulphur area, and graduated from Sulpher High School in 1946. She then attended the University of Oklahoma. On April 1, 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Thurman Norton, at Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur.
Noveline worked as a secretary at Ardmore Air Base, Calvary Baptist Church and spent 30 years with the Soil Conservation Service until her retirement in 1995. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family and her church. She taught girls Sunday school classes, worked with church youth groups and sang in the choir most of her adult life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: S.H. McCollum and Bill Uhles.
Survivors include her husband, Thurman Norton of the home; daughter and son-in-law: Jan and Mike Milton, Empire; son and daughter-in-law: Clint and LeeAnn Norton, Sulphur; five granddaughters and three grandsons: Melissa and husband Nathan Braly, Houston, Texas, Nicole and husband Adam Reynolds, Erin Norton, Megan Norton, Christopher Moore, all of Oklahoma City, Carly Norton, Stillwater, Cody McDaniel and Cade McDaniel of Sulphur; a great-grandson, Landon Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Jillian Reynolds, and another due in October; several beloved nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law: Peggy Norton and Jackie Uhles, both of Sulphur; and many long-time friends who she cherished.
Pallbearers were Nathan Braly, Adam Reynolds, Christopher Moore, Cody McDaniel, Cade McDaniel, Bobby Uhles and Micahel Uhles.
