Tony Ray Burns

July 7, 1952 — June 26, 2013

DUNCAN — Tony Ray Burns, 60, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in Oklahoma City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Faith Temple in Duncan, with the Rev. David Morrow officiating. Services will be under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Tony was born Monday, July 7, 1952, in Oklahoma City, to Clifford and Mary May Paul Burns. Tony lived in the Duncan area all his life, attended Duncan schools and later served in the United States Navy. On January 21, 1997, he married Karen Elaine Whitmer in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Tony worked as a self-employed handy man for the past 40 years. He enjoyed dancing, cooking, arts and crafts, and making grapevine wreaths. Tony loved spending time outdoors, doing yard work and fishing. He was a member of the VFW, AA and the Bethesda Church of God.

Survivors include wife, Karen Elaine Burns of the home; two sons: Anthony Burns and wife Jennifer of Duncan, Jason Burns of Chickasha; five daughters: Shelly Lenard and husband John of Grand Prairie, Texas, Dora Tawkoyty of Altus, Samantha Burns of Altus, Trisha Graham of Virginia, Jennifer Lewin of Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters: Linda Tullos of Duncan, Darlene Womack and husband Jerry of Cox City, Shirley Ferguson and husband John of Joshua, Texas, Pauline Herrin and husband Don of Duncan, Charlotte Burns and Johnny Osborne of Duncan; several nieces and nephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Clark Burns; and several aunts and uncles.
