Donald Ray McCollum Jr.

May 9, 1960 — March 21, 2013

DUNCAN — Donald Ray McCollum Jr., 52, passed from this life on March 21, 2013, in Waleska, Ga. A celebration of life service to honor Donald (Donnie) will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

Donnie was born in May 9, 1960, in Levelland, Texas. He and his wife Barbara resided a short time in Waleska, Ga. after moving from Danielsville, Ga. where he and his family lived for 18 years. He grew up  in Oklahoma and attended Duncan and Marlow schools.

He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1989, where he served as a medic. He was a poultry plant shift manager for 21 years until retiring in 2011. He was hard working and lived for his family. He was a loving husband and father. He will always be in our hearts and in our minds.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara; four sons, Brandon and Derek McCollum of the home, Donald Ray McCollum III of California and Christopher McCollum of Comanche; stepson Justin Shanken; father Donald Ray McCollum Sr. of Davis; three sisters, Deena Williams and husband Gerald of Duncan, Melissa Tiger and husband Kevin of Davis, Sherry Nelson and husband Craig of West Texas; brother Kerry McCollum and wife Peggy of Wynnewood. He also had several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother Patsy McCollum, nephew Bryson Dennis, his paternal grandparents Horace and Faye McCollum, maternal grandparents Orvil and Dona Lane, uncles Bill McCollum, Michael McCollum and Jerry Lane.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan. Interment will follow where Bette will be laid to rest beside her husband in a family cemetery in Alma.
