J.C. Sanner

Aug. 6, 1922 — March 23, 2014

DUNCAN — On Sunday, March 23, 2014, the Lord called a sweet and loving man, J.C. Sanner, home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan, with the Rev. Roger Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

J.C. was born Aug. 6, 1922, at Duncan, to Jesse James and Eva Broadway Sanner. He graduated from Velma High School, served as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class in the United States Navy during WW II. He married the love of his life Marguerite Inmon on Feb. 6, 1954, in Velma. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2006.

J.C. was a farmer and rancher for more than 60 years. He was active in his church, Countyline First Baptist, where he served as church treasurer for 31 years, was Sunday school superintendent for nine years and taught Sunday school. He loved working with the youth.

He would play volleyball after church on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. He enjoyed helping people and would listen if you just needed to talk.

J.C. is survived by his son, Larry Jay Sanner, and his daughter Ann Morgan and husband Brent; two granddaughters: Jennifer Hankins and husband Jacob, and Rhonda Johnson and husband Wes; three great-granddaughters: Mackenzie Hankins, Grace Hankins, Ava Boozer; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and seven brothers.

Honorary bearers are his nephews and his two grandsons: Jacob Hankins and Wes Johnson.
