DUNCAN — Graveside services for Oran Ray Cariker, 91, of Duncan, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Duncan Cemetery under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home and officiated by Larry Ensminger. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the funeral home.  

Oran Ray Cariker passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in Duncan. Oran was born on May 24, 1922, in Okemah, to Steve Cenie Cariker and Amensie Lota Cariker Fisher. He graduated from Wewoka High School in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the US Marines and fought in World War II reaching the rank of Technical Sergeant and saw action in Bismarck Archipelago, Northern Solomon Islands, and in the Marianas Islands.

After the war Oran married his wife Geneva Pearl Ensminger on Aug. 2, 1946, in Yuma, Ariz.

He worked as a gang pusher for Mobil Oil for 38 years before retiring in February 1985.  Oran was a member of the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ in Duncan.

Oran is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Geneva Cariker; son, Freddie Paul Cariker; and his parents.

Those left to cherish Oran’s memory are his sons: Tom R. and his wife Jean Cariker of Carrollton, Texas, Mark and Linda Cariker of Duncan; sister, Alene Conner of Coweta; special sister-in-law, Gwen Ensminger Tilley of Wewoka; grandchildren: Lindsey Lauren and her husband Hunter Ross of Providence Village, Texas, Courtney Rae and her husband Christopher Lillie of McKinney, Texas, Thomas Alls of Duncan and Jesse Alls of Duncan, Victoria Powell of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren: Tanner Matthew Ross, Preston Hunter Ross, and Caleb Ray Lillie.

The family asks that memorials be made in Oran’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.

Honorary pallbearer for Oran are Roy Gunter.

Military honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
