Robert ‘Bob’ E. Kleidon

Sept. 12, 1932 — Aug. 3, 2013

DUNCAN — Robert “Bob” E. Kleidon, 80, of Comanche, passed away Friday morning, July 26, 2013, in Duncan.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Ray of Hope Church in Comanche with the Rev. Mike McCord and the Rev. Dow Pannell officiating. Interment will follow at Addington Cemetery, Addington, under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at funeral home.

He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., to Otto Edward Kleidon and Martha Becker Kleidon. Bob was a veteran, and he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

On Feb. 14, 1953, Bob married Sarah Yeager in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1956, they moved their young family to California, where Bob worked briefly for Lockheed, and then for the Parks and Recreation Department and finally for the Water & Power Company in Burbank, Calif. They lived in California until December 1976, when they returned to Oklahoma to be closer to Sarah’s family, and made their home in Comanche.

Bob raised parakeets for several years before going to work for Stephens County District No. 3 in Comanche, from which he retired in 2005.

Bob was an avid fisherman and gardener, and enjoyed working in his shop with his son-in-laws.  He enjoyed being a part of his daughter’s business, Top Brass, and looked forward to going to the Shot Show every January. He was a member of the Ray of Hope Church in Comanche, where he enjoyed helping in the Food Pantry.

Most of all, Bob loved life; he loved his church; and he loved spending time with his wife, his kids, grandkids and multiple family members. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his friends, he loved his community and loved being helpful and of service, no task was too large or small, he was just happy to be included.

You couldn’t help but want him with you; he was fun, he had an amazing sense of humor with an infectious easy laugh, and along with his positive attitude. You were guaranteed a great time. If you were lucky enough for him to call you friend, you had a loyal friend for life.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sarah Ellen Ruetna Yeager; his son, Bob Kleidon Jr. and wife Patty of Monroe, Wash.; daughters: Marie Levenson and husband Ed of San Marino, Calif., Kay Scharch and husband Dan of Loveland, Colo., Trisha Solomon and husband Randy of Wyomissing, Pa., and Melinda Woods and husband Steve of Duncan; grandchildren: Kevin and Greg Kleidon, Austin Levenson, Kristin Hocke, Lauren Scharch, Kristopher Solomon, Ashley Norton, Jessica Downs, Daniel Paul Woods and Luke Woods; great-grandchildren: Sage Kleidon, Reanna Hocke, Devyn, Aleena and Gabrielle Solomon, Dalton and Mason Norton, Olivia Downs, and Evelyn Woods; beloved brother, Daniel Kleidon and wife Olivia of Manor, Texas; beloved in-laws, George Yeager and wife Judy of Jacksonville, N.C., Bill Yeager and wife Neva of Waurika, Betty Phillips of Grossbeck, Texas, Sammie Hanmonds and husband Harold of Waurika, OK; Aleene Dilbeck and husband, Larry, of Duncan, OK; Sallie Miller and husband, Blaine of Terrel, Texas, Frank Driskell and wife Linda of Houston, Texas; and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who he dearly loved.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
