Walter Douglas Welch, 77, of Duncan, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services were Tuesday, at Carter-Smart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Chaffin officiating.
Walter was born to Bill and Zolah Stroud Welch on Feb. 20, 1933, in Tahlequah. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1960, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marlow.
Walter served as pastor of Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma and Tennessee, including the First Baptist Churches of Healdton and Waurika. Later in life, he was a professional sales representative, then constructed and operated the Kwik Lube in Duncan.
He enjoyed morning visits to Wal-Mart and a very special relationship with his friends at Duncan Opticians. Walter loved dogs and horses, always enjoying the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and the Triple Crown.
Walter married Patty Everett on June 16, 1956, in Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his wife, Patty of the home; sons: Doug Welch of Duncan and Steve Welch of Tulsa; a brother, Dwayne Welch of Moore; a grandson, Stephen Welch; and a great-grandson, Montana Welch.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Zolah Welch, and a sister Connie Fisk.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, MDA or Chisholm Trail Hospice.

Twyla Kay Tinkle Sampson
A celebration of the life of Twyla K. Sampson, 77, of Duncan, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the First Christian Church in Duncan. Services are under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Twyla was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area.

Norma Janice Sutherland Good, 76, passed from this life on April 15, 2014, at Tomball, Texas, because of health complications.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Harold Davis, 86, of Temple, departed this life on April 15, 2014, in Duncan.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, with the Rev. Jay Driskill officiating. Burial will be in the Temple Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.
