DUNCAN — Wanda Rae Shaw, 80, passed away Jan. 10, 2014, in Mesquite, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Fair Baptist Church in Duncan with Bro. David Spangler officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

Visitation at Comanche Funeral Home will be 12 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Wanda was born Jan. 15, 1933, in Mansfield, Ark. to Andrew Franklin and Reva (Little) Sanders. She was raised in the Duncan area and graduated from Empire High School. She married Kenneth Walker Barnes on Aug. 24, 1950, in Duncan and later moved their family to Fritch, Texas in 1959.

Wanda worked as a bookkeeper for various oil businesses and later as a supervisor in several different hospitals. On Oct. 24, 1968, Kenneth passed away and later Wanda married Winfred R. Shaw on Nov. 22, 1969. They lived in Hobbs, N.M. and Andrews, Texas before returning to Duncan to be near family.

Wanda was always there for her family and they lived next door to her parents for many years as she and W.R. monitored their needs. W.R. passed away on June 7, 2013.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Barnes and Winfred Shaw; her parents, Andrew and Reva Sanders; and a sister, Barbara Venable.

Survivors include one sister, Yvonna Larsen and husband Skip, Foley, Ala.; three sons: Kenny Barnes and wife Gail, Crandall, Texas, Jim Barnes and wife Lynne, Frisco, Texas, and David Shaw and wife Ginger, Brighton, Colo.; one daughter, Christie Sechrist and husband Richard, Loveland, Colo.

Wanda was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Brian, David, Kena, Brett, Cale, Judd, Rachel, and Caressa; and five great-grandchildren: Vada, Drew, Ethan, Case, and Elijah.

Pallbearers will be Brett Barnes, Cale Barnes, Brian Barnes, David Barnes, Richard Sechrist, and Travis Robertson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Baptist Church of Duncan.
