Benny Joe Renfro

May 13, 1920-March 7, 2014

DUNCAN — Benny Joe Renfro, 93, longtime resident of Duncan, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, in Duncan.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, in the Duncan Cemetery with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial is under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Benny was born May 13, 1920, at Howell, Okla., to Samuel Joseph and Lottie (Doughty) Renfro. He married Ethel Marie Merritt in 1942 at Rush Springs, Okla., and she preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 1999. Benny enjoyed working on most machinery and was self-employed as a mechanic.

He is survived by four children: Sammy Renfro and wife, Patsy of Duncan; Shirley Duvall and husband, Jerry of Marlow, Okla.; Benny R. Renfro and wife, Janie of Duncan; and Paul A. Renfro of Meridian, Okla.; sister ,Bonnie Cavney of Duncan; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchilden.

Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lottie Renfro, his wife, Ethel Marie Renfro, a son, Jimmy Dale Renfro, a grandson, Danny Joe Renfro, four brothers and two sisters.

Benny’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
