It has been seven years since the Duncan community captured its uniqueness in a Duncan family picture. That will change on Saturday when the community celebrates the annual citywide Chisholm Trail Stampede.

A new Duncan family picture will be taken at 9:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Main Street before the start of the Stampede parade.

“It may not seem important to many people to take this picture Saturday and it may not be important this year.

“However, how sad would we be if we did not have the old Duncan family pictures when Main Street was still dirt, or when the courthouse still sat in the middle of Main Street or even the 1989 picture just three years after Duncan began the revitalization of the downtown area,” said Rachel Jackson, Main Street Duncan program manager.

“We really hope everyone will come out and be part of history of Duncan and stay for the Stampede parade.” Billingsley Ford is providing new trucks to be part of the picture so in the future those who look at the picture will see the 2006 body styles. The Palace Theatre will be putting the date on the marquee to make the picture easier to identify in the future. The Duncan Banner will be taking the picture.
