School is barely out, and already the cries of “Mommy, what can I do?” are echoing through Duncan. Not to worry, though. Many churches in the area already have their summer plans in place and are conducting sign-ups for programs to keep the youngsters busy.

From Vacation Bible School to denominational summer camps and activities at the individual churches, there is plenty to do, and most of it is free. The “away” camps usually charge, but some churches offer scholarships for those who are unable to pay.

The following churches have notified The Banner of their plans. Other churches have not finalized their plans, or are holding their VBS later in the summer. Those will be announced in this section in the weeks to come.

One church, First United Methodist, even offers programs for moms, too. Its five-week Preschool Mother’s Day Out program is now accepting enrollments.

More picnics, musical events and other happenings will take place throughout the summer, and they, too, will be announced as plans are made. To list an event, e-mail the information to Deadline for submissions is noon Wednesday for that Friday’s Religion section.
