Duncan band students earn ratings at solo and ensemble festival

DUNCAN —

Several students from the Duncan band program participated Saturday in a solo and ensemble contest at Lawton MacArthur High School, with many earning a 1 or 2 rating.
Co-band director Dawn Haas said Monday that the students were from grades seventh through 12th.
“They get ratings, a 1 being best and a 5 not so good. Several returned home with a 1 or 2,” she said. “Several high school students qualified for state which is in April.”
The students who took part in Saturday’s festival auditioned in front of judges, but without parents or their band instructors, Jeramy and Dawn Haas.
“They are already nervous, so they don’t really need us in there,” she said. A complete listing of those who placed will be available later this week.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
