The Duncan Banner
Reader’s Choice, one of the most popular and treasured events sponsored annually by The Duncan Banner, makes its first 2013 appearance today.
The official ballot is on page 11A.
Reader’s Choice enables readers of The Banner to select the best new business, the best place to work and the best boss in addition to a variety of favorites categorized in divisions for business, food, people and public institutions or services.
There are 191 choices possible.
“We look forward to Reader’s Choice every year,” Ed Darling, publisher of The Banner said. “It’s one of the most popular community events we sponsor and it has become quite a tradition
“Some businesses have won the same honor since the contest began in the 1980s. To continue their streaks has become part of their annual business plans. Some categories have generated tight annual competition. Others often produce new winners. And each year, there are surprises.”
To be considered an official ballot, at least 30 percent of all categories must be completed. And to prevent results tampering, only official ballots printed in The Banner will be accepted. No copies or facsimiles are considered official.
Ballots will also be published in The Banner Tuesday and Wednesday with a deadline for receiving ballots set for 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013.
A special publication will reveal winners in late October.
“It takes a little time to participate,” Darling admitted, “but the more entries that are submitted, the more accurate the results. With several new businesses opening during the past 12 months, we expect the results to be our most interesting ever.”
