Hearing for Jones set for Wednesday

DUNCAN — Michael Dewayne Jones, 17, of Duncan, is scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Stephens County District Court.

Jones, who faces youthful offender charges including use of vehicle in discharge of weapon and accessory after the fact in murder in the first degree, will be appearing for his preliminary hearing. Jones was one of three Duncan youths charged in relation to the shooting death of Australian native Christopher Lane.

Lane died Aug. 16 as a result of a gunshot wound at Country Club Road and Twilight Beach. Charges were filed against Jones, James Edwards Jr. and Chancey Luna on Aug. 20. Edwards and Luna face first-degree murder charges and will be tried as adults.
