Nearly 65 students arrived at Empire High School early Wednesday for the annual See You At The Pole rally, said Ronnie Null, youth director for Fair Baptist Church.
The event began at 7 a.m. and was recognized across the country, with students leading the way.
Empire’s Jordan Setters began the morning by welcoming everyone to the pole and sharing the verse this year’s theme “#IFTHEN” was based from 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Dylan Earnhart led the prayer, and then was joined by a group of students from Fair Baptist leading in song. Austin Stuck then shared the history of SYATP and how it was started back in 1990.
David Couch of Empire shared a devotion over 2 Chronicles 7 and God’s promise if we pray to him and also His warning if we stray from him, Null said. Stephen Price asked the students to gather in small groups to pray. Each group was asked to pray for the teachers and administration of the school, to lift up local and state leaders and leaders of this nation as well. The students were brought back into a large group to the song “The Lord’s Prayer” by Michael W. Smith. Reuben Woody concluded the event with a closing prayer. Fair Baptist Church provided breakfast for the students who attended.
