National Nurses Week kicks off today with RN Recognition Day and runs through May 12. Be sure to show some appreciation to the nurses in your life.

Leadership Duncan Class XVII graduation

Leadership Duncan Class XVII members will graduate from the 9 month program Tuesday evening at Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.

Comanche Chamber Banquet

Comanche’s Chamber of Commerce Banquet will recognize some of the key individuals and businesses in the community at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Asbury Complex.

Duncan High School Class of 1954

The Duncan High School Class of 1954 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Peyton’s Place Restaurant. For information, call 580-255-2605.

Flower luncheon tickets available

The Duncan Area Realtor's annual Flower Luncheon is set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 at the Opera House in Marlow. There is a cost to attend.

Letter Carrier’s food drive

On Saturday, letter carriers with the United States Postal Service will help “Stamp Out Hunger” by collecting nonperishable food donations from households on their route. All food donations will stay in the city. This is part of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers’ Food Drive, which is a one-day food drive in nearly 130 cities in central and western Oklahoma.

Graduations begin

Bray-Doyle High School begins the graduation season with its commencement at 8 p.m. Friday at Donkey Stadium. Also set for commencement this week is Cameron University on the same night.

Last AARP Driver Safety Class

An AARP Driver Safety Class will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 10 in the Jerry Morris Business and Industrial Center at Red River Technology Center.

Anyone within the Stephens County or surrounding area with a valid driver’s license may attend. The class is not just for seniors citizens or AARP members. The goal is to update driving skills and learn to compensate for the normal age-related physical changes that everyone experiences Students are not required to drive or pass a test.

People who complete the course may be eligible for a car insurance rate reduction, but certificates must be renewed every three years. Instructor will be AARP volunteer Rodney Love. This will be the last class until a new instructor can be found, so sign up early as class size is limited.

For information regarding the fee and enrollment, call Love at 580-255-7668 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.
