DUNCAN — Church Women United will be “Swinging Wide the Doors of Hospitality” for their annual Friendship Day this year.

CWU is made up of women of all denominations and Friendship Day is an event that helps bring more women of the community together. All women are welcome to the event that is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Friday at All Saints’ Episcopal Church.

With the hospitality theme, CWU will be following a program that teaches them to better open the doors to others.

“This program explores how to be open to newcomers, especially those different from us,” said Diana Rawls, one of the organizers this year. “Church Women United is open to all women; you don’t have to be invited.”

Included in the program is scripture, reflection, songs, a skit and open discussion. Last year, the turn out was about 30 women and CWU has more than 20 active churches in its group. This is one of three annual events that gets all the women together for fellowship.

“We look forward to it,” said Rawls.

The group provides an atmosphere where sharing of time, intelligence and energy may happen in order to deepen their understanding of what it means to be a woman of faith in today’s world.
