DUNCAN — Some Duncan residents found themselves without electricity for around 30 minutes Monday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., customers serviced by the Power of Oklahoma (PSO) lost electricity. It was about 4:30 p.m. when power was restored.

“It was caused by a failed cross arm, which is one of the key points that comes across our power poles,” Andrea Chansler, POS, said. “It failed for some reason. We were able to re-energize it pretty quickly.”

The failed cross arm was in the vicinity of the 27th and Bois d’Arc intersection. Chansler said the power outage did impact numerous customers in the Duncan community.

“It didn’t take very long to get them back on,” Chansler said.

Duncan Deputy Fire Chief Dayton Burnside said the Duncan Fire Department responded to a downed power line at that location, to extinguish a fire. He said it was a main transfer PSO line that the fire was around.
