DUNCAN — A Marlow man was arrested Monday on charges of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child under 16 years old.

Billy Dean Orum Jr. is being held in the Stephens County Jail on a half-million bond, and he appeared in Stephens County District Court. The crime is labled as AFCF — After Former Conviction of a Felony. A secondary charge in the court documents indicates distribution of pornography.

The graphic detailed affidavit filed in district court was prepared by Marlow Officer Tony Aguilera, after he conducted a follow up on a report filed by fellow Officer Tony Lynch that had been taken on April 11. The report had been made by the defendant’s own mother, who said she was worried for the safety of her grandson and for herself, according to the affidavit.

Orum served time in Oklahoma Department of Corrections for forgery, first degree robbery and attempted robbery, dating back to 2003. He is on probation until October 2023 for the robbery of which he was convicted.

A preliminary hearing conference has been set for 9 a.m. June 12. Orum also must have no contact with the victim.
