DUNCAN — Another bond issue may be on the horizon for Duncan Public Schools.

Tuesday’s meeting will explore the possibility of adding a safe/art room at the Duncan High School. This would be contingent on the passage of a bond issue April 2014.

PBK Architect and CMS Willowbrook, both companies involved in the renovation process at the Duncan High School, will be giving a presentation about the DHS safe/art room project to the Duncan Board of Education.

The presentation will be followed by two action items: The possible employment of PBK Architects for the design and development/plans on the safe/art room at the Duncan High School, and the possible employment of CMS Willowbrook as construction manager for the same project.

Duncan passed its last bond issue Feb. 14, 2012. That bond issue was aimed at renovating much of the Duncan High School, including the construction of a new cafeteria and library, the reconfiguring of the main building to include a new office space and more classroom area.

The art building was among the alternative projects of the 2012 bond issue and was dependent enough funds being left to be completed. The overall bond issue approved in 2012, was $19 million.

The groundbreaking on the high school renovation took place June 10. Prior to that, PBK Architects worked with high school faculty and members of the community to establish what the new look of the high school will be.

Work on the high school is on schedule and should be completed by 2015.

The Duncan Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. today at Duncan Public Schools Central Office.
