V-A to consider employment contracts

VELMA — Several employment positions will be voted on during the Velma-Alma Board of Education’s regular meeting Monday.

Board members will vote to approve or disapprove of Raymond Rice as interim superintendent through June 30, 2013. Rice is currently the Velma-Alma elementary and middle school principal.

For the 2013-14 school year, the board will also vote to employ or not employ an elementary/middle school principal, two elementary teachers, a high school English teacher, a high school science teacher and a maintenance supervisor.

Other decisions for the next school year include voting to approve or disapprove to participate in the Department of Human Services’ Commodity Food Program for the cafeteria, to accept the school calendar and to accept the contracts of the Alcohol Drug Testing, Inc.

Other agenda items include:

n A vote to approve or disapprove the recommendation by administration for summer maintenance employees.

n Members will vote to approve or disapprove a resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services. This resolution authorized filing of the Form 471 applications for funding year 2013-14 and the payment of the applicant’s share upon approval of funding and receipt of services.
