Hastings man arrested on molestation complaints

DUNCAN — Stephens County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hastings man on Friday for allegedly sexually molesting a 17-year-old girl and exposing himself in front of another 17-year-old girl who is a foreign exchange student.

Sheriff Wayne McKinney said deputies were called about a disturbance at a home in the Corum area of southwestern Stephens County on Friday morning.

McKinney said the exchange student woke up and James Mason Campbell, 44, was standing in front of her with no clothes on performing a sex act. He said Campbell confessed to that and officers later found out he had sexually molested the other 17-year-old.

He is being held on complaints of lewd molestation and indecent exposure. McKinney said no formal charges would be filed until Monday. Both offenses are felonies, he said.

Arrangements were being made to have the exchange student taken to a placement center in another state.
