DUNCAN — A $3,000 donation was made to the Stephens County Youth Shelter at the recent Living Legends Rodeo Reunion, held Sept. 21 at the Simmons Center.
The Chisholm Trail Ram Prairie Circuit Rodeo Finals committee made the donation on behalf of the rodeo, which just completed its second year in Duncan. Joe Henderson co-chairman presented the oversized 'photo opp' check to John Herdt, executive director for Youth Services of Stephens County, and Barbra Davis, director of the youth shelter. The donation was made possible by local business Continental Drive-Away and CDA’s Theresa Mitchell, was also involved in the check presentation.
Henderson told the attendees that the committee wanted to give back to the community that had helped make the rodeo a success in its first year.
A new youth shelter is being constructed on Fifth Street and has been a community project for about three years.
