City Council to consider payment approval

DUNCAN —

Required repairs made to Duncan Fire Department Vehicles are awaiting approval of payment by the Duncan City Council, for a total of $7,700.28 for the work.
The work completed on the Fire Department vehicles was required by NFPA to remain compliant with national standards and keep the apparatus fleet in a state of readiness. The work, for which payment may be approved, was completed by Firewerks fire Apparatus Repair.
According to a memo from City Manager Jim Frieda, the mandatory work could not be completed by the city garage.
“The scope of the work was outside the capacity of our city garage,” according to the memo.  “This is a budgeted annual service test.”
The Duncan City Council will meet at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Duncan City Council Chambers.
Other items:
  •  The council is also slated to discuss all aspects of the 2013 Street Improvement Project.
The City of Duncan has a general obligation bond election May 14, which is requesting money for street repairs. The final decision will be based on a vote of Duncan residents.
  •  Waste Connections is set to make a presentation to the Duncan City Council. The presentation will regard the implementation of the recycling program.
The recycling program has a start date of May 6, and Waste Connections crew members have already started dropping off recycling carts at various residences throughout Duncan.
The recycling program is also being established in Marlow and Comanche. The three cities are involved in the South Central Oklahoma Environmental Authority, which works closely with Waste Connections. The recycling program has been in the works since June 2102, and was signed off on in January.
  •  The council may approve a pay request by WW Builders in the amount of $52,179.24 for the 2012 Osage Road Project.
The project, which is installing permanent water lines along Fifth Street and Osage Road, was awarded to WW Builders on July 10, 2012, in the amount of $1,588,781.24.
