RRTC approves numerous payroll positions

DUNCAN — Installing Terry Brown as the safety/environmental compliance coordinator was one of several positions approved by the Red River Technology Center’s Board of Education meeting Monday night.

Brown takes the place left vacant by Greg Tanaka, who Dennis Loafman, RRTC superintendent, said he is sad to lose but that Brown is a great incoming employee. Brown beat out several candidates who applied for the position.

“We had a lot of excellent candidates but when it came down to the bottom line, his certifications matched up better with our training,” Loafman said. “I have great faith that he’ll do a stand-up job.”

Ron Canady and Carolyn Pettijohn were also approved for the RRTC payroll. Canady will take an instructor position in the machine area and Pettijohn will be teaching digital photography.

For the FY ‘14 school attorney position, John Ray Green was approved by the board. Loafman said Green is an excellent choice for the job.

“He does a good job and is always available,” he said. “He gives good advice.”

The same was said for Ed Witty and Claud Cook, who were approved for school treasurer and assistant school treasurer respectively.

Other agenda items:

  •  Approval was given by board members to award Lillard scholarships in the amount of $400 each to Anna Walls, Mollie Dees and Gloria Breeze, all practical nursing students.
  •  Out-of-district tuition rate of $10,672, as set by the State Department of Career Tech was approved by the board.
