MARLOW — Brad Boles, president of Wilco Machine & Fab Inc., became the new mayor of Marlow on Tuesday.

Boles was appointed to replace Bob Hill, who resigned last month to devote more time to his business.

Boles was chosen over Marlow teacher and longtime volunteer firefighter Jeff Prater.

Both men offered to serve the remainder of Hill’s term.

Marlow Administrator Jason McPherson said he asked both men to submit letters about their interest in the mayorship. Council members on Tuesday night asked both men to speak about qualifications.

“Everybody knew Jeff and Brad already,” McPherson said.

Councilman Brian Webb nominated Boles and Vice Mayor Mickey Hoy and Councilman Dan Ross joined in unanimously approving his appointment.

Councilman Don Ridley is ill and was not at the meeting, McPherson said.

Boles is a member of the Marlow school board but is expected to resign that post.

In 2012, he was named to the Board of Directors of the State Chamber, an organization of top business leaders across Oklahoma. Wilco Machine & Fab Inc. is a manufacturer of fabricated and machined equipment, products, and tools for the energy industry. Its facilities include space in Marlow and Duncan.
