On the record - City council members share their personal thoughts on $9 million road bond

DUNCAN — Councilman Ricky Mayes

On proposal: “Every day we get complaints about the condition of our streets and it’s something vital and necessary for the community. We need to move forward with it.”

On borrowing anyway: “We are not in a financial situation at all to borrow any more money.”

Councilman Ritchie Dennington

On proposal: “It’s a real need in the community and I think we’ve picked the very best way to address it.”

On borrowing anyway: “I feel if it’s voted down the citizens will have made their decision, which we will live by totally, that they don’t want the streets fixed and we will patch and do the best we can with what we have got. To add more debt to the city in my opinion is not a viable solution at all.”

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
