Though there will be no speaker this year at the Stephens County Historical Museum’s annual Kickoff Membership Dinner, those who attend will be able to look back on the county’s past through a photograph presentation.
“Photographs of the Ages” is a Powerpoint presentation put together by John Jennings, a current member and past president of the Stephens County Historical Society. The presentation will feature photos that have been submitted to the museum over the years and will run be shown during dinner, which is from 5-6:30 p.m. March 26 at the museum.
Normally, about 250 people attend and this year those planning on attending need to RSVP no later than Wednesday, March 20 by calling the museum at 580-252-0717.
Betty Davis will prepare the traditional stew dinner.
All the money gained from dues and new memberships goes directly to the museum. It is used to keep up with maintenance and keep the doors open for the public.
The fundraiser helps keep the facility open, which is a free attraction for area residents and tourists.
The historical museum is a nonprofit organization and no entry fees are necessary to visit it during it’s operation times. Therefore, the membership dinner is extremely beneficial to its continuance. Additionally, this means that all membership fees and donations are tax deductible.
