Various closings set for Thursday

DUNCAN — As Stephens County residents gather to celebration Independence Day on Thursday, various community entities will be closed for the day.

All City of Duncan offices will be closed. This includes offices at Duncan City Hall, the Duncan Public Library, Municipal Court and records room at the Duncan Police Department.

People will be able to pay their electric bills Friday at Duncan City Hall. The Police Department’s record room, Municipal Court and other city offices will reopen Monday. People needing to pay fines at Municipal Court won’t be able to do so until Monday.

The library will reopen Friday. The Summer Reading Program will resume Tuesday with Rhythm Babies, Baby Fun Land and Lego Land. There will be registration Monday for the upcoming Fancy Nancy Tea Party event, which is set for July 12.

Stephens County offices will also be closed Thursday. This includes all of the office in the Stephens County Courthouse, the commissioner barns and various other offices. All county offices will reopen Friday. People needing to pay fines to the Stephens County Court Clerks office will be able to do so Friday.

Area school offices will be closed for the holiday. And summer school programs will take the day off. The Summer Food Program at Woodrow Wilson, which is available to all children from birth to 18 years old, will not be served that day, but will return to normal schedule Friday.

The United States Postal Service will also be closed, and there will be no mail delivery Thursday. Things will return to a normal schedule Friday.

There will be no trash collection by Waste Connections on Thursday. All banks will also be closed Thursday. The banks will reopen Friday.

The Duncan Banner office will be closed, although an edition will be put out Thursday.
