Tim and Myles Thompson to perform at Cowboy Opry tonight

The Duncan Banner

COMANCHE —

Tim and Myles Thompson, a father/son duo, will appear at Cowboy Opry, 300 W. Oak Main. Showtime is at 6:30 p.m.

The pair are releasing their fourth studio set, Time4Me2Go, which they say has jazz phrasing reminiscent of Chet Atkins, Django Reinhardt, Chick Corea, blended with lyrics by songwriters like Jackson Browne and James Taylor.

They describe their music and personalities as improv jazz, traditional folk, country, rock and world music.

Myles is gaining recognition for fiddle work and songwriting skills. He supports his father’s playing, which began long before his son joined him. Before beginning work as a duo, Tim built a reputation for his intricate style, winning first place at the prestigious Walnut Valley Festival’s “International Fingerstyle Guitar Competition,” and earning acclaim from such publications as Fingerstyle Guitar magazine, Taylor Guitar’s Wood & Steel magazine and Just Jazz Guitar magazine. His songs can be heard on everything from bumper music on NPR to the United Artists film Casper’s Haunted Christmas.

There is an admission cost to this show.
