DUNCAN — A thief with an apparent cleaning habit swiped a Shop-Vac and other cleaning supplies over the weekend at the Creekside Apartments at 4625 N. Highway 81.

Police reports said the thief went into the apartment complex’s storage unit sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Tuesday, making off with a large Shop-Vac of more than 10 gallons worth $100 and cleaning supplies worth about $70.

The apartment complex’s manager, Cherry McEntire, said there are not many ways to prevent future thefts, but she will still try.

“All you can do is put a new lock on the door,” McEntire said. “There’s really not a whole lot you can do.”

McEntire said she wanted Duncan residents to know the Creekside Apartments are still a safe place to live, and there was no sign of forcible entry into the storage unit.

The storage unit is located on the southwest side of the complex, and a new lock has been fastened onto its double doors since the theft.
