Youth arsonists hit Duncan home

DUNCAN — Two unknown suspects threw molotov cocktails into a Duncan residence Sunday.

A witness reported seeing two fires, one right inside the door of the home and one south of the doorway under a window, according to police reports.

Detective Bill Fitzhugh of the Duncan Police Department said inside the home a 92” flat screen TV was damaged and the hallway of the home was destroyed. He said there was also smoke damage and some damage in the kitchen.

Another witness noticed two juveniles walking in the area around the time of the offense.

Fitzhugh said he is looking for suspects, and took beer bottles from the scene used for the molotov cocktails for evidence.

“We collected evidence and sent it over to OSBI so they can look for fingerprints,” Fitzhugh said.

Though the fires caused damage to the home, Fitzhugh said it could have been much worse.

“It could have burned the whole house down if they knew what they were doing,” Fitzhugh said.

Fitzhugh said someone had tried to burn the same house on Friday, but were unable to cause any damage.
