Man walks into Auto Zone partially clothed, arrested for indecent exposure

DUNCAN — A Duncan man faces indecent exposure charges following his arrest Wednesday.

Guy A. Thurlo, 56, was arrested at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday after allegedly appearing without pants in Auto Zone on U.S. Highway 81.

According to the affidavit filed by Duncan police officer Ryan Atkinson, Atkinson and Lt. Chris Ray responded to a call at 7:23 p.m. from AutoZone “advising a male walked into the store without wearing any clothing. Upon arrival, Lt. Ray and I made contact with Guy Thurlo who was sitting in the middle isle number 6 wearing only a shirt.”

Thurlo was sitting in the aisle and his lower half was clearly visible, though the affidavit was much more descriptive.

“Thurlo was clearly confused. He could not make much sense while speaking and could not explain to us where he was or why he wasn’t wearing any pants,” Atkinson wrote.

About 7:27 p.m., Thurlo was arrested and transported to the Stephens County Jail via Officer Daryle Schmitt’s patrol vehicle.

“While en route to the Stephens County Jail, Thurlo became agitated and started kicking the cage in back of Officer Schmitt’s patrol car. When we arrived at the Stephens County Jail, Thurlo calmed down when we allowed him to exit the back seat,” according to the affidavit.

“Officer Schmitt then asked Thurlo if he was claustrophobic, and he responded, ‘I don’t know. I may be a monkey.’ Thurlo was then escorted into the Stephens County Jail where he was booked in for the district charge of indecent exposure,” according to the affidavit.

If found guilty of the charge of indecent exposure, Thurlo could face 10 years in jail, a fine up to $20,000, or both.
