DUNCAN — Duncan firefighters responded to a blaze early Saturday morning at the Greens Apartments.

The fire, which was called out around 1:30 a.m., resulted in damage to three apartments, Deputy Fire Chief Dayton Burnside said. Empire Volunteer Fire Department responded to help Duncan firefighters put out the fire. The Greens Apartment are south of Main Street on 27th Street.

“Two upstairs units were damaged with smoke and fire,” Burnside said. “One downstairs unit was damaged with smoke and water. There was extensive damage to the whole unit.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Burnside is hopeful the cause will be determined quickly.

Duncan responded to the blaze with 19 firefighters, three engines and one aerial unit. Empire assisted with four firefighters and one engine.

“We were out there for quite some time,” Burnside said.

The firefighters were at the scene of the fire for about five hours, working through the early morning hours.
