DUNCAN — The Board of Stephens County Commissioners approved a bid from C.L. Boyd in Oklahoma City Monday and plans to purchase a backhoe loader with enclosed cab extendable stick and excavator controls for District 2 from them.

C.L. Boyd was the lowest bid received out of four bids ranging from $81,323 to $87,392. The bid did not include the necessary seal on the notarization so commissioners will not be able to act on the bid till that problem is solved.

The board also listened to a presentation from Liberty Life Insurance’s Barry Hogan. Hogan said Liberty Life Insurance’s signature product is a supplemental group life insurance that is pre-tax to lower premiums. This product locks in premium and the value of the policy until the age of 100. With the commissioner’s permission, the life insurance is now available as an option to county employees.
