Duncan gets rain, Waurika not so much

DUNCAN — There was rain in Duncan on Wednesday with 0.79 of an inch recorded at Halliburton-Duncan Airfield.

At the Mesonet weather station located northeast of Velma, only 0.27 was recorded.

In Waurika, where Waurika Lake supplies much of the area’s water supply, only 0.29 precipitation was reported.

The National Weather Service forecast does not forecast precipitation for Stephens County in the near future.

It should be cloudy through mid morning today before gradually clearing, with a high near 78. It also will be windy, with a west southwest wind 21 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph, according to the forecast.

The is a very high to extreme wildfire danger today, the weather service said.

Tonight should be mostly clear, with a low around 45, with west wind 7 to 13 mph becoming east northeast after midnight.

Friday should be partly sunny, with a high near 65 and east northeast wind 7 to 15 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.
