DUNCAN — A man charged with lewd and indecent proposals or acts to a child under 16 pleaded guilty Thursday in Stephens County District Court.

Billy Dean Orum Jr., 34, of Duncan, was sentenced to 30 years in the Department of Corrections for a child sexual abuse charge after former convictions of three felonies.

Orum changed his plea to guilty during the trial docket call in District Judge Joe Enos’ courtroom. Orum has previously been charged with felonies in Oklahoma County, including bogus check, attempted robbery and first-degree robbery.

He waived his right to remain in Stephens County Jail for the next 10 days to be moved immediately to the Department of Corrections. He was given credit for time served.

Orum also will be required to pay $2,500 in court fines and will have three years of post-prison supervision following his release from the Department of Corrections.

He pleaded guilty for acts he committed to a child in the spring of 2013. According to the affidavit, the child reported the acts to a grandparent.
