COMANCHE — Early today, the body of Dennis Mitchell, 67, of the Corum area, was recovered at Walker’s Creek, an inlet of Waurika Lake, said Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney.

Mitchell had been missing since Monday, but was only reported as missing at 11 p.m. Saturday. A search and rescue team went to the lake and worked until 2 a.m. Sunday. Mitchell’s body was found about 9 a.m., around 45 minutes after searchers renewed efforts toady, McKinney said.

McKinney said it appeared that Mitchell might have gotten in distress while he was out working on his boat near the boat dock. The sheriff said it appeared he had been in the water for some time.

His address was listed as the Corum/Comanche area, McKinney said. The family has been notified.
