Art show draws plethora of works

DUNCAN — More than 32 artists entered the Fall 2012 Fine Art Show in Duncan with about 120 art submissions Saturday.

Awards were given in three categories along with a few other prizes such as Best of Show and People’s Choice. Jacquelin Knapp, judge for the show, said all awards were chosen for strength of design, color harmony, composition and balance, which are all essential to a successful work of art.

“This exhibition proved to contain many works that satisfy all (requirements),” said Knapp. “I was proud to have had the opportunity to see the work of such a strong art community.”

Best of Show: Shane Cox’s “Tea & Strawberries II”

Landscape/Still life: Cheri Wallenberg’s “Copper Pot & Apples,” first; Dovie Punneo’s “NW Mt. Scott,” second; Buena Wilson’s “Eggplant,” third.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
