Veterans Day Parade to be held on Saturday

Matt Tillson

DUNCAN After returning from Iraq and Kuwait Aug. 12, the Bravo Battery 1st-158th Field Artillery will be the guests of honor in this year’s Veterans Day Parade at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The parade is being sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1192.

Daniel Leal is the chairman of the parade this year and said that he is looking forward to honoring the men and women who have served our country.

“This parade is just a symbol of what Veterans Day is,” Leal said. “It is to honor the men and women who have fought for our country, and are still fighting for our country.”

As well as honoring the men and women who have served and are serving in the nation’s military services, Veterans Day is a day to recognize the men and women who can not come home.

“This day is not just for the men and women who have made it home,” Leal said “Veterans Day is also a day to show our love and appreciation to all of the men and women who died fighting for our country.”

Following the parade, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1192 will be hosting a lunch at noon. This lunch will be open to the community at the VFW located at 2012 N. U.S. Highway 81.

“Hosting this dinner is just another chance for the community to show their respect and appreciation to these veterans,” Leal said. “It is also just a great way to say thank you.”
