Marlow auctions off labor

The Marlow FFA Chapter will be holding their annual Labor Auction beginning at 6:30 p.m., on Nov. 5 at the Marlow Elementary Cafeteria. The event will begin with a dinner and the auction to follow shortly after. Part of the meal will be provided with help from the Ag Boosters. They will provide fish that have been caught during the first annual farm pond extravaganza.

FFA Advisor Connor Haines is in charge of the event and said this fund raiser is a great way for the community and his FFA kids to become familiar with one another.

“This is my second year of being in charge of this event and it went extremely well last year,” Haines said. “When you bring these great group of students and the community together, it’s a great way for us to get recognized and for us to give back.”

There are 60 students that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Haines said that last year’s event raised over $6,000, but plans on surpassing that amount with this years auction.

“Raising that much money is such a great thing,” Haines said. “I feel that this year will be even more of success.”

Haines said students being auctioned off will be allowed to help the highest bidders with a different jobs for eight hours.

“The students will do whatever is asked of them,” Haines said. “They will be helping in such things as as working on farms, baby sitting, and yard work.”

Along with the labor auction the FFA students will be auctioning off different homemade pies, cakes, and crafts that have been donated by the community.
