Sales tax numbers up overall in county

Duncan shows decrease in June

OKLAHOMA CITY — The August distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from June business.

Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.

The monies they reported this period represent sales from June 16 to 30 and estimated sales from July 1 to 15.

The disbursement of $109,709,801 in sales tax collections was returned to 505 cities and towns reflecting a decrease of $3,929,144 from the $113,638,945 distributed to 505 cities and towns in August last year.

The use tax disbursement of $7,424,524 was distributed between 351 cities and towns. In county returns, 74 counties shared in a $22,370,976 sales tax disbursement.

The use tax disbursement of $1,753,896 was distributed between 62 counties.

Duncan’s numbers were down from 2008, going from $1,027,550.40 to $958,678.18. Marlow was down slightly, going from $147,896.56 in 2008 to $144,325.93 this year.

Comanche and Addington both showed an increase this year. Comanche’s number was $40,061.06, up from $30,533.78 in ’08. Addington’s number, $221.41, while small, showed quite a bit of growth compared to the $76.77 in 2008.

Bray also showed an increase with a $1,430.92 compared to $1,347.01

In Addington, a new use tax of 2 percent will be in place Oct. 1.

While Addington’s number was up, Hastings’ $571.29 was lower than 2008’s $582.74.

Waurika’s $32,151.47 was down from $32,866.34, and Velma was also down, going from $28,112.72 in ’08 to $27,764.44 this year.

The sales tax collected by Stephens County was 210,011.87, down from $249,843.45. In Jefferson County, there was $42,648.45, down from $43,312.31.
