DUNCAN —
Duncan Police detectives interviewed the victim from Tuesday’s shooting at the hospital on Wednesday.
Duncan Lt. Jimmy Williams said that the victim, Elijah Davis, 21, from Lawton, didn’t remember much.
“It was a pretty traumatic experience for him,” Williams said. “It’s possible he will remember a few more things as time goes on.”
All the victim remembered was answering the door, seeing two individuals on the doorstep, hearing a gunshot, slamming the door and running back inside, Williams said.
Megan Varnell, a media coordinator for Duncan Regional Hospital, said that the victim was in good condition Wednesday afternoon.
“They have him on breathing treatments,” Williams said Wednesday.
“They haven’t taken the bullet out yet because they’ve been concerned about him getting chest pneumonia because of holes in his lung.”
Wednesday evening, Davis checked himself out of Duncan Regional Hospital and walked out, Williams said this morning.
“But he ended up in Comanche County Memorial Hospital,” he said.
Andrea Nunn, who is the manager of community relations at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, said that Davis was in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are following up on several leads, but as of yet have not identified any suspects or motives for the incident, Williams said.
