Drunk driving listed as cause of accident

A one car accident sent two Comanche people to the hospital with minor injuries at about 11:30 p.m. Monday just east of the 42nd Street and Dr Pepper Road intersection in Stephens County.

Both the driver, Carla Jean Hodges, 40, and the passenger, Bobby Don Straughn II, 47, were treated and released from Duncan Regional Hospital.

According to the accident report prepared by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Crawford, Hodges and Straughn were westbound on Dr Pepper Road in a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which departed the roadway to the left.

When the car departed the roadway, it went through a fence and overturned once.

According to the report, the cause of the accident was listed as driving under intoxication.

Stephens County Sheriff’s Officer and Comanche Police and Fire Departments assisted Crawford in the investigation.
