Contracts being renewed

Preparing for 2009-10 fiscal year

Derrick Miller
The Duncan Banner

DUNCAN Wednesday was the beginning of the new fiscal year for Stephens County, and the Board of Stephens County Commissioners was busy getting ready for the year by approving an array of contracts.

Dee Bowen, District 3 commissioner, said, “We’re renewing contracts from last year because it’s the new year.”

Bowen said the contracts are approved and signed every year. But they’re necessary to make the operations of the county run smoothly. All of the contracts and agreements made were between Stephens County and other entities.

The contracts approved include:

• An agreement with the City of Duncan for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office to house prisoners for Duncan.

• Adopting a resolution authorizing the Stephens County treasurer to make investments of county funds and to place the interest earned from these investments in the general funds or other funds from where the investment was made.

• Service agreement with Red River Web Design to provide the county treasurer with license and support including unlimited phone support and on-site visits. A similar service agreement was made with Keller’s Programming Service Inc. to provide the county treasurer with licensing and support including unlimited phone support and on-site visits.

• Cylinder lease agreements with Fitch Industrial and Welding Supply for the three county districts, county maintenance and the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center.

• Maintenance agreement with Marlow Business Machines to provide service and repair of typewriters for the county clerk, commissioners and election board.

• Two contracts with Visual Lease Services Inc.: One to provide the county assessor with assistance in appraising pipelines throughout the county; another for hosting of the county Web site and to grant the county assessor with Web site access.

• Agreement with Alcohol and Drug Testing Inc. to provide alcohol and drug testing services for the three districts.

• A contract with Urgent Med to provide X-ray services for the Stephens County Health Department. A few other contracts on behalf of the Health Department were also passed. These include one with Steve Sutton to provide directly observed therapy and related services to tuberculosis patients, another with Miracle Laboratories Pest Control to provide pest control services, a third with Duncan EZY Storage Inc. for rental or a storage unit, another with Language Line Services Inc. to provide over-the-phone interpreter services, and a final one with Standley Systems for maintenance, copies and supplies.

• Rental agreement and full maintenance agreement with Standley Systems to provide copier machines, maintenance, copies and supplies for the district attorney’s office, sheriff’s office, county treasurer, county assessor and Oklahoma State University Extension Office.

• A couple of agreements were also made on behalf of the fairgrounds. These agreements include one with Key Equipment Finance Inc. to provide a copy machine; and another with Bennett Office Equipment to provide maintenance, copies and supplies.

• Another agreement with Bennett Office Equipment was also approved to provide copier machines, maintenance, copies and supplies for the election board, county clerk and sheriff.

• The last agreement approved was a lease agreement and maintenance agreement with Sooner Copy Machines Inc. to provide the county commissioners with copier machines, maintenance, copies and supplies.
