Comanche woman in stable condition

— Just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday, a two-car accident involving a cow sent a Comanche woman to the hospital.
The accident report filed by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Larry King said that Sandra Daffern of Comanche was driving her 2000 Nissan Maxima south on Oklahoma Highway 65 four miles north of Oklahoma Highway 53 when she struck a cow in the roadway and went into the northbound lane, striking the 2002 Honda Accord of Lori Hedges of Temple, head on.
Daffern, 61, was airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where she was admitted in serious condition with internal, head and leg injuries. She was in stable condition at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, an OU Medical Center clinical coordinator said.
Hedges, 37, was transported to Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton by ambulance. She was admitted in good condition with arm and internal injuries. Hedges was in good condition Friday morning, a nurse at the medical center said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Airbags also deployed in each vehicle.
King was assisted in his investigation by OHP Lt. Jerry Howell, Trooper Kevin Crawford, Trooper Tim Brinson, Trooper Forrest White, Cotton County Sheriff’s Department, Walters Police Department and Walters Fire Department.
