Light agenda

The Duncan Banner

DUNCAN The City Council will have a light agenda to consider at its meeting Tuesday evening.

One of the five items the council will be considering is a proclamation to declare April 22 as Earth Day in Duncan.

Earth Day, has been recognized in the United States each year on April 22 for the past 38 years and will be commemorated in Duncan by the planting of an Oklahoma redbud tree.

The council will also hear a request to allow operation of a home beauty shop at a residence located at 1606 Larch.

The Planning Commission has previously heard the request and recommended its approval.

In addition, unaudited financial statements from July 2007 to March 2008 will be presented to the council.

The statements indicate the city’s water-related revenue continues to stay below the budgeted amount because of last year’s mild and wet summer.

Bids will also be presented and heard by the council for the Elk Avenue road improvements waterline relocation project.

Bidding is scheduled to open Tuesday for the project.

The council will consider the following items from the consent agenda:

$353.44 payment to Action Safety Supply for Elk Avenue traffic striping and Abe Raizen parking lot; set maintenance bond in effect.

$25,681.27 payment to Miller Construction for Waterline Improvements 06-07 project services.

$20,272.50 payment to T&G Construction for Airport Terminal Paving project services.

$117,017.98 payment to T&G Construction for services on the Revenue Bond Improvements 2007 project.

$131,808.07 payment to T&G Construction for services on the Road Improvements 2006 project.

Declare certain books as surplus and authorize transfer to Friends of the Library.

Accept dedication of a sanitary sewer main and easements serving First Bank & Trust Co. and the public.

Purchase fence materials for $3,328.02 for Parks Department from Craddock Fence, Inc.

The City Council meets at 5:15 p.m. inside the Duncan Police Administration Building at the corner of Willow and South 7th.
