DUNCAN Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed ...

“Beverly Hillbillies” will be brought to life in free shows at 7 p.m. March 28-29 in the Teen Round-Up Depot.

Producer Karla Kerley Craft of Velma and a volunteer cast, all of Duncan, have worked since January to make this community event possible. Craft is an actress and has performed on the Branson Bell Showboat and Dixie Stampede. She recently took part in “Oklahoma!” at Duncan Little Theatre.

Calvin Kerley, 14, is the son of Kim and Roxanne Kerley, directors of Teen Round-up. He has stepped into his dream of acting on stage and co-directing the “Beverly Hillbillies” play. Calvin has done scriptwriting and stand-up comedy since the age of 12. He took part in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at DLT.

The cast is made up of: Jed Clampett/Terry Craft, Granny/Karla Craft, Jethro Bodine/Jamin Bishop, Elly Mae Clampett/Candace Adams, Jane Hathaway/Tina Grounds, Milburn Drysdale/Calvin Kerley, Laura Jackson/Bethany Perkins, Woody Tyler/Chaz Rains, Pearl Bodine/Roxanne Kerley, Margaret Drysdale/Joy Haney, Marilyn Drysdale/Tabatha Chaney, Captain Gallo/Raymond Haney, Barnaby Jones and Mr. Brewster/Jerald Swanson, the Reverend Mason/Calvin Kerley.

The story is based on the late 1960s hit TV show. Jed Clampett strikes oil on his property in the mountains of Tennessee and decides to move his poor country family to Beverly Hills, Calif., but they have trouble settling in. Jed tries to tame his daughter, Elly Mae, by hiring a French tutor, Laura Jackson, who tries to strip him of every cent he has. While Mr. Drysdale struggles to keep the Clampett account, con artists Laura Jackson and Woody Tyler see the Clampetts as an easy target. While they try to pull off their crime of the century, Jane Hathaway and Granny get suspicious. This is fun entertainment for the whole family.

There will be a freewill offering taken on each night to offset the expenses of the play. There will be free hot dogs and soft drinks after the production on each night of the play.

For information, call Teen Round-Up at 580-252-9105. The Teen Round-Up Depot is five miles west of U.S. Highway 81 in Duncan on Beech, one-half mile south on Empire Road.
